Wrap up a hot dog in true ‘mummy’ fashion in this fun Halloween take on classic Crescent Dogs. This morning I wanted to surprise my ‘lil guy, so I made these before he got up for breakfast…Ingredients:
- 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls (or similar brand)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar (or similar) cheese
- 8 large hot dogs (Kosher, optional)
- Baking sheet, non-stick
- Cooking spray
- Mustard or ketchup (optional)
- Ramekins, rectangle (optional)
- 1 egg, slightly beaten and seasoned with kosher salt/ground pepper (optional)
Directions:
- Heat oven to 375°F.
- Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal. If using dough sheet: Unroll dough; cut into 4 rectangles.
- Wrap 1 rectangle dough around each hot dog; stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate “bandages” so hot dog shows through for “face.” I purposely put holes on the dough as I was wrapping each one for a tattered look.
- Roll each one around shredded cheese to look like “bandages”
- On ungreased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray.
- Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. For the eyes, I just used tiny pieces of black olives by cutting a tiny slit on each side to look like eyes. Place the small piece of olive into each slit to prevent from falling. Otherwise, with the mustard, draw features on “face.”
- Optional, bake 1 egg in the oven on a ramekin for about 3 minutes or until egg is fluffy. Place crescent mummy dog on top for a fun presentation! You can make up to eight, if you desire.

Meanwhile, here’s a little song to sing along (click on title below) with your kids whilst waiting for the crescent rolls to bake!
Love the lyrics and wanted to share!–gcc
Halloween Day, Halloween Night
The ghosts are sleeping in the attic,
On Halloween day, on Halloween day!
They all come out to float around,
On Halloween night, on Halloween night!
The skeletons are hiding in the closet,
On Halloween day, on Halloween day!
They all come out to dance around,
On Halloween night, on Halloween night!
The witches are stirring up their brew,
On Halloween day, on Halloween day!
They fly their broomsticks all around,
On Halloween night, on Halloween night!
The mummies are wrapped up in their tombs,
On Halloween day, on Halloween day!
They all come out to walk around,
On Halloween night, on Halloween night!
The bats are hanging in their caves,
On Halloween day, on Halloween day!
They all come out to fly around,
On Halloween night, on Halloween night!
The kids are all sitting down so nice,
On Halloween day, on Halloween day!
They all come out to trick or treat
On Halloween, on Halloween night!
“Trick or Treat!”
